What order do things need to be done



Your Wedding Checklist timeline of events

Nine to 12 months Before Your Wedding: 

  • □ Announce your engagement
  • □ Pick a date
  • □ Create a wedding registry
  • □ Create a Google document & invite everyone who is helping plan your wedding
  • □ Throw an engagement party (Give your guests the details of your wedding registry now, so they
  •                 have time to save money!)
  • □ Pick a budget
  • □ Pick a theme.
  • □ Start your guest list (Don’t forget to ask your parents who they think should be there! Don’t
  • forget about a separate guest list for your rehearsal dinner!)
  • □ Create a Google Docs Spreadsheet for your guest list.
  • □ Create A Google Docs Spreadsheet for your gift registry.
  • □ Choose your wedding party
  • □ Hire a planner (especially if you want all day events)
  • □ OR Hire a day of ceremony coordinator
  • □ Purchase the rings
  • □ Insure your ring
  • □ Schedule venue tours 
  • Book your photographer and videographer (these people are often reserved 9-15 months in advance and I offer both) These are going to be the largest expense, next to the venue. I offer payment plans and customized packages for every budget. I also travel because being a #destinationphotographer is awesome!
  • □ Research ceremony sites
  • □ Research reception venues
  • □ Research venues for the rehearsals

  • □ Research florists
  • □ Research caterers (Schedule tastings)
  • □ Research bakers (If your caterers aren’t doing the cakes.)
  • □ Research entertainment

  • □ Create an “in-case-of-rain” plan. Have a plan in place in case of bad weather. 

  • Eight Months Before Your Wedding
  • □ Book your officiant

□ Book your entertainment

  • □ Meet and book the caterers

□ Meet and book the bakers (Order the cakes)

□ Book your ceremony site

□ Book your venue

□ Book your florist  (Please don't discount wooden flowers. They hold up in humid weather!)

□ Book the rehearsal venue

□ Reserve structural & electrical necessities 

 □ Arrange transportation 

(Do you want your wedding party to be all together? Do you want to make an entrance in a nice 

older vehicle or limo? What are you leaving the reception in?) If you get married in Alabama, or Georgia or Mississippi I recommend old classic cars.

□ Purchase wedding insurance (If you’re doing an outdoor wedding, you can get rain insurance 

that will pay all your vendors in case it rains. 

You can also purchase liability insurance so that if 

someone gets hurt at your wedding/reception, you will not be held liable.)

 □ Purchase THE dress OR rent one! I offer selections for rental if you're into flowy boho and/or want something in addition to white.

□ Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out of town guests 


□ Start a wedding website (Optional) □ Send save the dates (Optional)

□ Research honeymoon destinations 


Six Months Before Your Wedding 

  • □ Select & purchase invitations
  • □ Start planning your honeymoon
  • □ Shop for bridesmaids’ dresses
  • □ Meet with your officiant
  • □ Meet with everyone who is helping
  • □ Start composing a day-of timeline
  • □ Check on the wedding invitations
  • □ Book the honeymoon
